My work blends staged, conceptual imagery with observational moments and it’s often unclear which is which. I’m drawn to that ambiguity, where a successful picture leaves the viewer wondering: is this documentary or constructed? I enjoy working in a loose, intuitive way, seeking out quirks and finding beauty in ordinary moments. As someone who’s neurodivergent (I have ADD), photography helps me process and bring shape to a world that can otherwise feel chaotic and inconsistent. It’s how I make sense of things.

Ruben is a fashion and celebrity photographer based in Hackney, working from his Hoxton studio. Since starting his practice in 2021, he’s been crafting images that balance elegance with edge, drawing inspiration from his artistic upbringing and a lifelong love of visual storytelling.
Influenced by documentary photography, music subcultures, and the raw energy of post-punk and goth, Ruben’s work weaves atmosphere, emotion, and mystery into every frame. Whether shooting high-gloss fashion editorials or intimate portraits, his style embraces the weird and wonderful, creating striking, cinematic worlds that reflect both contemporary culture and his own creative instincts.
