Some key details about the AOP Awards

The AOP Awards are the leading celebration of photographic excellence for those working in the creative industries. Now in their 38th year, this year we launch a year-long celebration of those who create the images that inspire us all.
On the 14 April, we launch the AOP Student Awards 2021. This year we want to make the event extra-special for students who have been seen their studies sadly affected by the pandemic. Set out below are details of this year’s curators. The AOP Student Awards are open to all those studying at further education level and higher.
Also in April we will launch the very first AOP Open Project, which sees the Open Category of the AOP Awards morph into an amazing year-long programme of creative briefs and projects set by some of the leading individuals, brands, organisations and groups in the industry, for everyone to enter. Our first is a special partnership with Leica.
The ‘Oscars’ of the photography world, the AOP Photography Awards, will return in the autumn and we will celebrate the Icons of the image-making world with a very exciting new celebration later in the Spring.
The Economist’s 1843 magazine, sister publication to The Economist, has launched a mentorship programme for black photographers to help create a pipeline for black talent. 1843 magazine publishes long reads and narrative journalism, and emphasises visual storytelling in all its pieces.
